The clergy were dead set
against the Drink
in Ireland -
at least as regards ordinary punters.
The priest said -
'There'll be no Drink for you
unless it be in my image!'
And lo and behold, there it stood,
dressed in a black silk suit
with a neat white dog-collar
round its porkly neck.
So the Irish started drinking their priest
and it didn't take long
for the priests to be drinking themselves.
